The skin under the eyes is the thinnest in the body making it more translucent than other skin on your body. As a result, any micro vessels underneath this skin appear as dark circles.
Collagen is a type of protein fiber responsible for the thickness and integrity of the skin. When PRF is injected under the eyes, the growth factors released stimulate a wound healing response which produces collagen and thickens the skin reducing the appearance of dark circles.
Immediately after injections the under eye area is puffy from the fluid accumulation, which will subside 72 hours post injections. At the 72 hour mark, typically patients report a “fibroblast activation glow”, making the under eyes appear brighter. Collagen production is a slow process. A series of 3 treatments is always recommended, 4 to 6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 4-12 months for notable, long-lasting results!
